A Group for Stress & Anxiety

Teen Mind & Body: Spring 2018

The Teen Mind & Body group combines skill-building and group process to maximize the integration of emotional and somatic resources. This 10-week group combines elements of the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM), Laurel Parnell’s Resource Tapping, and creative exercises to build a strong foundation for managing stress and anxiety. Each week builds upon the last to enhance retention and build mind/body awareness.

Participants will:

  • Identify triggers for stress and anxiety
  • Get to know the body’s “early warning system”
  • Learn simple and effective life-long coping strategies
  • Prepare for future challenges and responsibilities
  • Share valuable experiences with supportive peers
  • Improve resources for school, performance, or social anxiety

An Integrative Mind-Body Program

Skill Building + Group Process

Beginning with the first session we combine skill-building with group process so that new tools are immediately put into practice for maximum benefit.

Somatic + Embodied Resourcing

To embody is to give a tangible or visible form to an idea, quality, or feeling. Somatic embodiment helps bridge the gap between emotional and biological experiences of stress and anxiety.

Creative + Imaginal Methods

Adolescence is one of the most potent and vital periods in life, so we utilize creative methodologies and imaginal exercises to access and strengthen the mind and body’s natural resources.

About Us

Heather McMillen is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a background in the arts. She specializes in working with highly creative and Highly Sensitive People (HSP) and provides trauma-informed care utilizing in TRM and EMDR.

Group Facilitator

Meredith Redding is a Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner with advanced training in the areas of psychodynamic theory, trauma, and dissociation.
