About
I am a Southerner who landed in Los Angeles in 2000. My earliest memories are of taking mental snapshots of the world around me; collecting images I wanted to remember. I’m intrigued by other people, and I spend a lot of time studying them. I’ve traveled extensively throughout the world. Those experiences, coupled with my ongoing study of psychology, have sharpened my ability to create portraits from a place of understanding. I view drawing and painting as an access point, an empathic adventure into to the heart of my subjects. Typically, I’m more interested in individuals than in groups. I prefer to quietly observe. For me, making art is a means to express and celebrate individuality and emotional intensity, which is why I often choose subjects from either the people and objects of my everyday life..and sometimes, from artists or films that have inspired me.
